EDWARDS, Calif. — NASA will host a media teleconference at 6 p.m. EDT on Friday, March 20, to provide updates on the X-59 quiet supersonic aircraft. The briefing follows the aircraft’s scheduled second test flight at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center.
The X-59, the heart of the Quesst mission, is designed to fly faster than sound while reducing the loud sonic boom to a gentle “thump.” This second flight marks the beginning of the “envelope expansion” phase, where the aircraft will gradually reach higher altitudes and faster speeds to ensure safety and performance.
Teleconference Highlights:
-
Technical Insights: Leadership from NASA and Lockheed Martin Skunk Works will discuss the flight data.
-
Pilot Perspective: X-59 test pilots will share firsthand accounts of the aircraft’s handling and flight preparation.
-
Livestream: The event will be available for public viewing on NASA’s YouTube channel.
